Land levelling (also called land grading and land forming) is the reshaping and contouring of the land surface with tractors and scrapers according to predetermined gradients with the purpose of providing good surface drainage (run-off) and to promote uniform infiltration of water. To achieve this, accurate cutting and filling operations need to be performed depending on land profile and contours.
The process consists of the following steps: surveying, designing, levelling and verification using GPS technology.
GPS surveying enables us to precisely map the general topography of the land, create boundaries, interior points and surfaces, and to accurately calculate and report on the true acreage of the surveyed area as to ensure optimal field coverage and accurate surface design.
This 3D survey is then sent to OptiSurface. OptiSurface is the worlds most powerful analysis and design software for agricultural land forming. It calculates the optimised field topography that satisfies water management goals, minimising earthworks with maximum results and without ditches. It does this using our patented system incorporating Continuously Variable Grades™ (CVG™) along with 3D GPS machine control technology.
This system allows complete and reliable mechanical and GPS integration and scraper hydraulics are automatically set according to the pre-set 3D design allowing for accurate, GPS-based filling and/or cutting during land levelling.
